Adoption Process and Information

Adoption Process

  1. If you see an animal you are interested in adopting, send us an email.  Make sure to include any relevent information such as the animals name, your name and any experience or information you know and have.  You can expect a response as soon as possible.

  2. The responding email from us will ask you questions regarding your current knowledge on the animals husbandry requirements and what other animals you keep and if you want, we can arrange a date and time for you to meet the animal.

  3. If all goes well and you meet the criteria for that certain animal we will require photographic evidence of your appropriate and enriching set up for the animal. This MUST include an appropriate % linear UVB and overhead heating connected to a thermostat regardless of the species. We are more than happy to provide as much advice as needed and are happy to give enclosure recommendations!

  4. If the set up is approved, we kindly ask for a suggested minimum donation to adopt, this helps us continue our work.

Please be patient during this process as we are very cautious about who we rehome our animals to and require as much information about your knowledge as possible.  If we make suggestions about making changes to your set up, please dont take offence, we just want what is best for the animal and for you as their new pet parent!

Who can adopt?

You must be over the age of 18

Parents who wish to adopt animals for their children must be the animals primary caretakers, no matter how responsible the child is

We do NOT allow breeders or people planning to breed to adopt under any circumstances

We do NOT allow people to adopt if they keep animals in racking systems

After adoption

If you have adopted an animal from us, firstly, THANK YOU! Please keep us updated on how they are doing and contact us if you have any questions at all! If you have any concerns feel free to bring them to us for a health check! When you adopt from us you get lifelong advice and support

If for whatever reason you can no longer look after them, as included in the adoption contract, the animal must return to us. They can absolutely not be given or sold to anyone else.

Why Adopt?

Gives a reptile in need a second chance at life with a loving home, Unfortunately many of the animals who are surrendered to us have experienced horrific neglect and abuse and really deserve a loving forever home.

Is more ethical than supporting stores or breeders who profit from animals lives.

There are so many reptiles searching for forever homes and too many breeders who care more about profit than welfare. Adopting can decrease the over breeding and benefit the overall welfare of captive reptiles.

We love every animal that enters our doors and pour everything into them, we spend hours with them individually so we know them very well and can ensure that they go to a home that is best for them and the adopter! We can tell you what they like or don’t like and give you good insight into their personalities.

Adopting allows us to rescue more animals and supports our cause .

When you adopt from us you will receive a lifetime of support and advice, we are always here to help!

Adoption is absolutely incredible!
